The V60’s design uses spiral ribs and a wide structure to allow the coffee to pass evenly and quickly through the paper filter, creating a complex and well-balanced cup.
Brewing Details
We recommend about 1 gram of medium grind per every 13 – 15 grams of water. No scale? Not a problem. Use 2 level tablespoons of coffee for every 6 oz of water. Adjust the ratio until you find the right flavor balance.

Hario V60 Dripper
Hario Filter
Mug or Carafe
Grind your coffee.
Set your grinder to a medium-fine grind setting.
Boil your water.
Boil a bit more than you’ll need to brew your coffee (we’ll explain why in a moment).
Insert the Hario conical paper filter into the dripper.
Place your dripper over a mug or carafe.
Rinse your filter using the extra water you boiled and then discard the water.
Add your ground coffee into the filter.
Bloom your coffee (pour hot water so that it begins to bubble)
Make sure the water’s temperature is around 200 degrees F. Pour a few ounces of hot water into your filter and set a timer for 30 – 45 seconds.
Pour the rest of your water.
Continue to pour the rest of your water in a slow, circular pattern. Wait for your coffee to finish dripping.
Enjoy.
Clean Up
Simply remove and discard the filter and rinse your dripper, which is also dishwasher safe.
